The site is normally divided into 3 main sections when viewing content, with the addition
of a site-navigation list permenantly shown on the left of the screen (Section
1). To view the content, the user must first select a category within
the site navigation list, under the 'Database' heading - for example 'Topography'. |

Section 2 is the content navigation area. A list of sub categories
are shown at the top of this section, relevant to the main category first selected
under the 'Database' heading. To narrow down your search, select one of these sub-catgories.
Within each category, there is a drop-down box containing a list of all the items
within that sub-category. Click on the small grey arrow next to the box to show
this list. The example above shows the drop-down box with the 'Royalty Cinema' selected.
Next to the drop-down box, is a 'Show Modern' tick box. When this is ticked, any
content that is known to modern (from the last 10 years) will be filtered out from
the results of you search.
The 'Associations' list at the bottom of this section provides an easy shortcut
to navigate to relevant stories or places. Sometimes the number of associations
are numerous and the list will be curtailed. The the word 'more' will then appear
at the end of the list. Select this to show all associations. |

Section 3 is the article area. This is a description of the selected
item chosen from the drop-down list. If no article exists, an 'Insert' link will
be shown to allow the user to create one. If the user is a member, and logged in,
an 'Edit' link will be shown. |
|
|
|
|
|
Section 4 is the content area which shows thumbnails of the items
presently in the database. The amount of items shown is limited to six per page.
If more items are available, then a page header will be shown at the top of this
section, showing the number of items, and a link to move to the other pages. |
